I watched this "Danny Phantom" episode for the second time last two weeks ago because it was so freakin' awesome! It was, so far, the best tv movie special I've watched. It was even a hell lot better than "Reign of Storm".
I'm not gonna mention the whole premise of the episode, but I'm just gonna write my whole thoughts on "The Ultimate Enemy" in this journal entry.
"The Ultimate Enemy" has some of the darkest moments in the whole series. Yeah, there are some DP episodes with dark themes, but "The Ultimate Enemy" just takes the cake. Danny's main enemy is himself, his "future self", Dan Phantom. He is the embodiment of chaos, murder, and destruction. He nearly destroyed the entire Amity Park and killed most of its citizens, including his human half Danny Fenton.
Okay, enough descriptions, what I like about this episode is the introduction of Clockwork (voiced by actor David Carradine), a time master who wanted to somehow help change Danny's future by giving him tests. This episode also introduced the best villain in the series, Dan Phantom (voiced by actor Eric Roberts). Despite its darker tones, "The Ultimate Enemy" still managed to make some moments a little lighter and funnier. Overall, the episode was a complete package!
Oh, one more thing! Danny Fenton's death still kinda bothers me until now. How was he killed? I mean, even Vlad found it too disturbing and horrifying to even mention his death. This gave us the eeriest line ever said in "The Ultimate Enemy"."Some things, my boy, are better left unsaid."
Thanks for reading.
